Morgan State University professor Christian Anderson and clinical therapist Rosemary Anderson tackle this question as they talk about the intersection of STEM and SEL. Join us to hear what issues students typically face and how you can use SEL tactics to move students past those barriers and see themselves as members of the STEM workforce.

Brookwood Elementary School believes in focusing on the whole student, knowing we must meet their heart needs before we can meet their head needs. Come join us as we share with you a current implementation of a STEM special where you will see how utilizing students' creativity to solve real world problems can create an awe-mazing environment where students are empowered to learn and grow. A "Day of Play" has never meant more than it does now!

Bringing a Collaboratory To Life

Learn how to create a Collaboratory that will unite teachers and students with engagement and problem-solving opportunities that bring STEM to life. Brookwood Elementary’s STEM teacher will share her vision, the behind-the-scenes to-dos and the tips and tricks preparing for explorations, investigations and experiments that support the classroom teachers. She will also share how the school’s overall SEL foundation plays a tremendous role in setting students up for success while they become investigators of science.

STEAM in Early Education: Mealworm Magic

Carmelo the Science Fellow will show you how to connect a life science activity to the physical sciences by using Mealworm Magic to teach all aspects of STEAM.

Join this session to hear about a program designed to inspire female students to consider careers in technology. See how positive female mentors help young women see how their innovative ideas can lead to limitless opportunities in technology careers.

Technical Education: Pathway to Success For Students At-Risk

Learn how to build a program that provides technical training to at-risk students to motivate them to stay in school. The program is an alternative to college prep and ideal for students who may be at risk for dropping out due to a variety of circumstances.

Future Teachers Are STEM Ready

STEM is not an isolated lesson, but rather integrated into the lives of young learners.  This session will provide several lesson ideas and resources for PREK and elementary parents and teachers.  Come engage in the basics of engineering design principles with us.
