EXPLORING SIX DECADES OF BIONDI-SANTI

For anyone who knows and loves Italian wine, the name Biondi-Santi is synonymous with power, elegance and tradition.

This producer of top-rank Brunello has cult status internationally and is revered for the quality and longevity of its meticulously crafted wines. Biondi-Santi makes three wines, all reds: Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. This illuminating vertical tasting will be led by Biondi-Santi’s director of winemaking, Federico Radi, who will take tasters back through the decades, from the relatively youthful Rosso di Montalcino 2022 to the truly venerable and rare Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1975.

HOST

Born and bred in Tuscany, Federico joined Biondi-Santi as director of winemaking in 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from the Università degli Studi in Florence and a Master’s degree in Oenology from the Università degli Studi in Siena.

A Sangiovese expert through and through, Federico’s previous winemaking roles in Chianti Classico and Maremma eventually led him to Montalcino and Biondi-Santi. Here he has immersed himself in the century-old traditions and terroir of this venerable estate, while steering a course for future evolution – and all the while maintaining unaltered the distinctive Biondi-Santi style.
